Attend the meeting November 5, 2:00 p.m. | 7th Floor Reliable Plaza and make public comments.
Rooftop Solar has helped thousands of low to medium income families save money on their OUC energy bills, and helped OUC offset a rapidly growing demand for electricity in its service territory.
The rooftop solar industry today encompasses 3,000 direct and over 15,000 indirect jobs in the Orlando area, with over $600 million in economic impact to the Orlando area to date.
All of that is in jeopardy under OUC’s PeakShift/TruNet proposal. OUC’s PeakShift/TruNet will lock Orlando residents into a future with fewer energy choices and higher costs.
OUC’s proposed changes are bad for Orlando:
- OUC’s proposal will destroy the savings of homeowners who install energy efficiency and renewable energy
- OUC customers will suffer inflated forever electric bills, with no way out.
- OUC’s proposal will force Orlando residents to monitor and reduce their own electric consumption constantly, or face higher monthly fixed fees.
- OUC’s proposal eliminates the economic benefit of rooftop solar, making solar impossible for homeowners already struggling to make ends meet.
- OUC’s proposal will drive solar and energy efficiency companies out of the OUC area and lead to drastic job losses, leaving many Orlando residents without companies to service their systems.
- OUC’s proposal makes it harder for anyone who has solar today to sell their home.
- OUC’s proposal creates barriers to community energy resiliency, and its proposed battery incentive will benefit only 500 homeowners.
- OUC’s proposal puts Orlando on the path to less energy independence.
- OUC’s proposal puts the City of Orlando’s energy goals in jeopardy.
The proposal will be presented during the OUC Board of Commissioners meeting at 2 p.m., November 5, 2024, and is expected to be voted on during the December 10, 2024, Commission meeting.
Please attend the meeting to show support for protecting rooftop solar.
